Räikkä area in middle of the Ylöjärvi town centre offers a wide range of possibilities.
Vanha Räikkä was built in 1825. The building was renovated and opened to the public in autumn 2019. Now it serves as a café-restaurant, meeting and party venue and a place for art exhibitions and events.
Räikkä beach is one of the most popular beaches is Ylöjärvi. There’s a beautiful playground for kids, a hobby horse course and fitness equipment for seniors. In the summer of 2020 a beach volleyball court and an event square will be launched there.
In winter there is a cross-country ski trail, an ice swimming hole and a nearby sauna on the shores of Keijärvi. Räikkä Sports Field offers an excellent setting for exercise and competitive sports. There is an electronic vehicle charging station in the parking area.
The sculpture Alamökki (“The Lower Hut”) by Kimmo Schroderus was revealed in 2018 in the town hall square. It was mounted to honor the long career of Finnish rock band Eppu Normaali. The band is originally from Ylöjärvi. The idea for the sculpture is from the original little studio – their first studio was in a little hut in the country side of Ylöjärvi. You can actually see the wall of the hut in the sculpture.
